Position Summary

Select Maintenance LLC is seeking an experienced Skilled Construction Worker (Road & Civil Construction) to support roadway and civil construction projects throughout Texas. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating construction equipment, setting concrete forms, and finishing concrete for roadway, curb and gutter, sidewalk, drainage, and other civil infrastructure projects.

This position requires a safety-focused individual who can work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining high-quality workmanship and supporting field crews as needed.

Responsibilities

Equipment Operation

  • Safely operate heavy construction equipment, including excavators, skid steers, and backhoes

  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections

  • Conduct excavation, grading, trenching, material handling, and site preparation activities

  • Maintain equipment in a clean, safe, and proper operating condition

Form Setting

  • Set, align, and secure forms for curbs, gutters, sidewalks, drainage structures, headwalls, and other concrete roadway components

  • Establish grades and elevations using construction plans, grade stakes, and site controls

  • Ensure forms meet project specifications, measurements, and quality standards

Concrete Finishing

  • Place, screed, float, edge, and finish concrete surfaces

  • Perform hand and machine finishing as required

  • Produce quality concrete finishes while maintaining proper grade and drainage requirements

  • Assist with curing and protecting newly placed concrete

General Construction Activities

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, grade stakes, and project specifications

  • Assist with pipe installation, storm drainage structures, roadway improvements, and other civil construction activities

  • Work closely with foremen and crew members to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule

  • Follow all company and project safety requirements

  • Maintain proper PPE and safe work practices at all times

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of civil construction or roadway construction experience

  • Experience operating excavators, skid steers, and backhoes

  • Experience with concrete form setting and concrete finishing

  • Ability to read and understand grades, stakes, construction drawings, and project specifications

  • Strong understanding of roadway and civil construction practices

  • Valid driver's license

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform physically demanding work

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Must be safety-conscious and dependable

Preferred

  • Experience with DOT or municipal roadway projects

  • Experience with storm drainage installation

  • CDL license is a plus
