Resumen del Puesto

El Capataz de Concreto y Pavimentación es responsable de planificar, coordinar y supervisar cuadrillas que realizan trabajos de concreto y pavimentación en proyectos de construcción civil pesada. Esta posición supervisa todas las fases de la construcción en concreto, incluyendo trazo, cimbra, instalación de acero de refuerzo, colocación de concreto, acabado, curado y actividades de punch list. Funciones y Responsabilidades Esenciales

  • Planear, coordinar y supervisar actividades diarias de construcción de concreto y pavimentación.
  • Dirigir obreros, carpinteros, acabadores de concreto, operadores y subcontratistas para cumplir con los objetivos de producción del proyecto.
  • Interpretar planos del proyecto, especificaciones, planos de taller e información de trazo.
  • Coordinar la construcción de banquetas, guarniciones y cunetas, entradas vehiculares, cimentaciones para barreras, muros de contención, reparación de pavimento de concreto, rampas ADA, losas de concreto y estructuras menores de concreto.
  • Verificar el trazo correcto, niveles, elevaciones, dimensiones y pendientes transversales antes de la colocación del concreto.
  • Supervisar la instalación de cimbras, colocación de acero de refuerzo, instalación de varillas de anclaje (dowels) e insertos.
  • Coordinar entregas de concreto y supervisar las operaciones de colocación para asegurar el cumplimiento de especificaciones.
  • Asegurar que se utilicen técnicas adecuadas de acabado, instalación de juntas, métodos de curado y tolerancias de superficie.
  • Monitorear la calidad del concreto, revenimiento (slump), contenido de aire, temperatura y procedimientos de colocación.
  • Coordinar con gerencia de proyectos, inspectores, personal de topografía, agencias de pruebas y subcontratistas.
  • Programar mano de obra, equipo, materiales y entregas de concreto para cumplir con el cronograma del proyecto.
  • Realizar reuniones diarias de seguridad y hacer cumplir las políticas de seguridad de la empresa.
  • Identificar y resolver problemas en campo que afecten la seguridad, calidad, productividad o cronograma.
  • Mantener reportes diarios que documenten mano de obra, equipo, volúmenes de producción y avance del proyecto.
  • Realizar inspecciones de control de calidad y asegurar que el trabajo terminado cumpla con los requisitos del proyecto.
  • Apoyar en la finalización de punch list y actividades de cierre del proyecto.
  • Capacitar y orientar a los miembros de la cuadrilla en prácticas de construcción seguras y eficientes.

Calificaciones

  • Mínimo 5 años de experiencia en construcción de concreto o construcción civil pesada como capataz.
  • Sólido conocimiento de métodos de construcción en concreto, técnicas de acabado y requisitos de calidad.
  • Capacidad para leer e interpretar planos de construcción, especificaciones y planos de taller.
  • Conocimiento de requisitos de cumplimiento ADA, niveles y pendientes transversales preferido.
  • Experiencia coordinando colocaciones de concreto y manejando múltiples cuadrillas.
  • Fuertes habilidades de liderazgo, comunicación y organización.
  • Capacidad para trabajar eficazmente con propietarios, inspectores, ingenieros y subcontratistas.
  • Licencia de conducir válida requerida.

Responsabilidades de Supervisión

  • Supervisión directa de obreros, carpinteros, acabadores, operadores y personal de oficios.
  • Coordinación de subcontratistas dentro de las áreas asignadas.
  • Asignación de tareas diarias y monitoreo de la productividad de las cuadrillas.
  • Promover la seguridad, calidad, responsabilidad y trabajo en equipo.

Requisitos Físicos

  • Capacidad para trabajar al aire libre en diversas condiciones climáticas.
  • Capacidad para permanecer de pie, caminar, agacharse, arrodillarse y trepar durante períodos prolongados.
  • Capacidad para trabajar alrededor de colocaciones activas de concreto, equipo de construcción y control de tráfico.
  • Capacidad para levantar y cargar hasta 50 libras (23 kg).
  • Capacidad para trabajar horas extra, fines de semana, turnos nocturnos y viajar según los cronogramas del proyecto.

Calificaciones Preferidas

  • Experiencia en proyectos DOT, municipales, aeroportuarios u otros proyectos de infraestructura pública.

Foreman – Concrete & Flatwork

Position Summary
The Concrete & Flatwork Foreman is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising crews performing concrete and flatwork operations on heavy civil construction projects. This position oversees all phases of concrete construction, including layout, forming, reinforcing steel installation, concrete placement, finishing, curing, and punch list activities. The Foreman ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily concrete and flatwork construction activities.
  • Direct laborers, carpenters, finishers, operators, and subcontractors to achieve project production goals.
  • Interpret project plans, specifications, shop drawings, and layout information.
  • Coordinate construction of sidewalks, curb and gutter, driveways, barrier foundations, retaining walls, concrete pavement repairs, ADA ramps, concrete pads, and miscellaneous concrete structures.
  • Verify proper layout, grades, elevations, dimensions, and cross slopes prior to concrete placement.
  • Supervise formwork installation, reinforcing steel placement, dowel installation, and embed placement.
  • Coordinate concrete deliveries and monitor placement operations to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Ensure proper finishing techniques, joint installation, curing methods, and surface tolerances are achieved.
  • Monitor concrete quality, slump, air content, temperature, and placement procedures.
  • Coordinate with project management, inspectors, survey personnel, testing agencies, and subcontractors.
  • Schedule labor, equipment, materials, and concrete deliveries to maintain project schedules.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify and resolve field issues affecting safety, quality, productivity, or schedule.
  • Maintain daily reports documenting manpower, equipment, production quantities, and project progress.
  • Perform quality control inspections and ensure completed work meets project requirements.
  • Assist with punch list completion and project closeout activities.
  • Train and mentor crew members in safe and efficient construction practices.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of concrete or heavy civil construction experience as a foreman.
  • Strong understanding of concrete construction methods, finishing techniques, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Knowledge of ADA compliance requirements, grades, and cross-slope requirements preferred.
  • Experience coordinating concrete placements and managing multiple crews.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with owners, inspectors, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to work around active concrete placements, construction equipment, and traffic control operations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, nights, and travel as project schedules require.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on DOT, municipal, airport, or other public infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of concrete testing and inspection requirements.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Experience utilizing laser levels, stringless grading systems, and construction layout equipment.
