Resumen del Puesto

El Capataz de Estructuras es responsable de supervisar cuadrillas en campo dedicadas a la construcción de puentes, muros de contención, concreto y actividades de construcción estructural. El capataz dirige las operaciones diarias, asegura el cumplimiento de los planos y especificaciones del proyecto, y mantiene prácticas de construcción seguras, productivas y de alta calidad.

Funciones y Responsabilidades Esenciales

  • Planear, coordinar y supervisar actividades de construcción estructural en concreto.
  • Dirigir cuadrillas en trabajos de cimbra (encofrado), instalación de acero de refuerzo, colocación de concreto, acabado y curado.
  • Interpretar planos estructurales, planos de taller (shop drawings), especificaciones y cronogramas de construcción.
  • Coordinar actividades de construcción de puentes incluyendo cimentaciones, columnas, cabezales, estribos, muros de aletas, losas y muros de contención.
  • Asegurar la correcta traza, dimensiones, elevaciones y alineación de los elementos estructurales.
  • Coordinar mano de obra, materiales, equipo y subcontratistas para cumplir con los cronogramas del proyecto.
  • Realizar reuniones diarias de seguridad y hacer cumplir las políticas y procedimientos de seguridad de la empresa.
  • Supervisar la calidad del trabajo y asegurar el cumplimiento de los requisitos de control de calidad.
  • Coordinar inspecciones con propietarios, ingenieros y personal de administración de proyectos.
  • Mantener reportes diarios que documenten mano de obra, equipo, producción y avance del proyecto.
  • Identificar y resolver problemas en campo que afecten la seguridad, calidad, cronograma o productividad.
  • Asegurar que la colocación, consolidación, acabado y curado del concreto se realicen correctamente.
  • Capacitar y orientar a los miembros de la cuadrilla en métodos de construcción seguros y eficientes.

Calificaciones

  • Mínimo 5 años de experiencia en construcción civil pesada estructural como capataz de estructuras.
  • Sólido conocimiento en construcción de puentes, cimbra de concreto, acero de refuerzo y colocación de concreto estructural.
  • Capacidad para leer e interpretar planos estructurales, planos de taller y especificaciones.
  • Conocimiento de control de calidad del concreto y requisitos de inspección.
  • Fuertes habilidades de liderazgo, comunicación y organización.
  • Licencia de conducir válida requerida.
  • Certificación OSHA de 10 horas en construcción preferida.
  • Certificación en RCP/Primeros Auxilios preferida.

Responsabilidades de Supervisión

  • Supervisión directa de obreros, carpinteros, operadores y personal de oficios.
  • Coordinación de subcontratistas dentro de las áreas asignadas.
  • Monitoreo de la productividad y desempeño de las cuadrillas.
  • Promover la seguridad, calidad y trabajo en equipo en todo el proyecto.
  • Asegurar que todo el trabajo se complete conforme a los requisitos del proyecto y estándares de la empresa.

Requisitos Físicos

  • Capacidad para trabajar al aire libre en diversas condiciones climáticas.
  • Capacidad para caminar en terrenos irregulares y sitios de construcción activos.
  • Capacidad para subir escaleras, trabajar alrededor de equipo pesado y acceder a áreas elevadas.
  • Capacidad para trabajar horas extendidas, fines de semana y turnos nocturnos según los cronogramas del proyecto.





Foreman – Structures

Position Summary
The Structures Foreman is responsible for supervising field crews engaged in bridge, retaining wall, concrete, and structural construction activities. The Foreman directs daily operations, ensures compliance with project plans and specifications, and maintains safe, productive, and high-quality construction practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise structural concrete construction activities.
  • Lead crews performing formwork, reinforcing steel installation, concrete placement, finishing, and curing operations.
  • Interpret structural plans, shop drawings, specifications, and construction schedules.
  • Coordinate bridge construction activities including foundations, columns, caps, abutments, wingwalls, decks, and retaining walls.
  • Ensure proper layout, dimensions, elevations, and alignment of structural elements.
  • Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors to maintain project schedules.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure compliance with quality control requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections with owners, engineers, and project management personnel.
  • Maintain daily reports documenting manpower, equipment, production, and project progress.
  • Identify and resolve field issues affecting safety, quality, schedule, or productivity.
  • Ensure proper concrete placement, consolidation, finishing, and curing practices are followed.
  • Train and mentor crew members in safe and efficient construction methods.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of heavy civil structural construction experience as a structure foreman.
  • Strong understanding of bridge construction, concrete formwork, reinforcing steel, and structural concrete placement.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural plans, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of concrete quality control and inspection requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain and active construction sites.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work around heavy equipment, and access elevated work areas.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and night shifts as required by project schedules.
