El Operador de Equipo Pesado opera de manera segura equipos de construcción para apoyar actividades de construcción de carreteras, puentes, excavación, instalación de utilidades, nivelación de terrenos y desarrollo de sitios. El operador es responsable de cumplir con los objetivos de producción, manteniendo el equipo en buenas condiciones y siguiendo las especificaciones del proyecto.

Funciones y Responsabilidades Esenciales

  • Operar equipo pesado de construcción, incluyendo excavadoras, bulldozers, cargadores frontales, motoconformadoras, rodillos compactadores, minicargadores (skid steers), retroexcavadoras y camiones de acarreo.
  • Realizar trabajos de excavación, nivelación, zanjeo, manejo de materiales y relleno de excavaciones.
  • Leer e interpretar estacas de nivelación, planos de obra y dibujos de construcción.
  • Realizar inspecciones diarias del equipo e informar cualquier necesidad de mantenimiento.
  • Garantizar que el equipo se opere de manera segura y eficiente.
  • Trabajar en estrecha colaboración con supervisores, equipos de topografía, obreros y cuadrillas de utilidades.
  • Mantener prácticas adecuadas de seguridad en zanjas y excavaciones.
  • Cargar camiones y transportar materiales dentro de los límites del proyecto.
  • Cumplir con los cronogramas del proyecto y los requisitos de productividad.
  • Mantener el cumplimiento de las políticas de seguridad de la empresa y los requisitos reglamentarios.

Calificaciones

Heavy Equipment Operator – Heavy Civil Construction

Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates construction equipment to support roadway, bridge, excavation, utility, grading, and site development activities. The Operator is responsible for achieving production goals while maintaining equipment and following project specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Operate heavy construction equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, motor graders, rollers, skid steers, backhoes, and haul trucks.

· Perform excavation, grading, trenching, material handling, and backfilling operations.

· Read and understand grade stakes, site plans, and construction drawings.

· Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.

· Ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently.

· Work closely with supervisors, survey crews, laborers, and utility crews.

· Maintain proper trench safety and excavation practices.

· Load trucks and transport materials within project limits.

· Follow project schedules and productivity requirements.

· Maintain compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

· Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment operating experience preferred.

· Experience operating multiple types of heavy construction equipment.

· Knowledge of grading, excavation, and utility installation operations.

· Ability to work safely around underground utilities and personnel.

· Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred but not required.

· Strong understanding of construction safety practices.
